Inside one of every five human beings lives a monster. These monsters I refer to are mental illnesses that commonly go undiagnosed. While I would love to tackle all the demons. I believe it is best to address my own, as well as educate those who are unaware of the mental illness of OCD. In this series, I bring to light the struggle of living with OCD. Showing you how I perceive the world. While there are all different kinds of OCD these are the four I struggle with the most. Contamination OCD: involves intense fears of being contaminated by germs, dirt, or other perceived contaminants. Checking OCD: a compulsive need to repeatedly check things. Symmetry and Order OCD: individuals experience intense anxiety and discomfort when things are perceived as asymmetrical. Lastly, Intrusive Thoughts OCD: frequent, unwanted thoughts that cause anxiety. Inside of this series I use color to represent the aspects of the struggle. Dark Blue represents the depression involved with the constant distress, White: The compulsion/temporary means to an end for the anxiety and stress, and Lastly Teal: My body parts are put in the color not only to represent OCD because it is the universal color but to represent how the illness has become me.
