The relentless expectation to stand out and be original on a daily basis leaves us feeling overwhelmed and demoralized. My piece delves into the challenge of striving for individuality in a world that constantly demands it. In my artwork, I encapsulate a deep emotional resonance by layering faces on top of each other. Through the use of sorrowful facial expressions, I evoke a profound sense of despair within the viewer. To heighten the dramatic effect and underscore the somber mood, I employ a black-and-white filter, infusing the scene with a haunting and melancholic tone. The inspiration behind my artwork, titled "Pressure," stems from my personal experiences in therapy. During a therapy session, I grappled with the challenges of identity and self-image, which led to the concept of altering the face in my work. This artwork is a deeply personal and surrealistic representation of my inner self and the complex emotions I experience. It is created with the intention of resonating with individuals who often grapple with feelings of being lost and finding it challenging to fit into the world around them. I aimed to create a work that allows others to feel the emotions I felt when pondering the question: "Do I belong?". These emotions encompassed feelings of anxiety, depression, and a profound sense of inadequacy.
